The Alexander Technique is taught through gentle hands-on guidance and verbal
instruction, conducted one-to-one in a quiet environment. Part of the lesson
may include you lying down in the classic Alexander Technique, semi-supine
position, allowing maximum support and relief for the back. No removal of
clothes is necessary, but it is a good idea to wear something fairly loose and
comfortable.
Through observation and heightened body awareness you will learn how to release
any unnecessary tensions in the muscles around the joints. This will help you
to find ease and balance whilst performing simple movements and everyday
activities such as sitting, standing, walking and bending, allowing the natural
reflexes to come into play.
Once the basic elementary movements have been attained you can apply this
improved coordination to any chosen activity.
